The first JARUS Plenary Meeting of 2025 met from the 5th – 9th May in Brussels at EUROCONTROL, bringing together regulators and industry experts from across the globe to continue the JARUS mission of advancing and harmonizing regulations for unmanned aircraft systems.
Building on the outcomes of the second plenary meeting of 2024 in Vienna, the week was highlighted by strong engagement and collaboration across the JARUS working groups.
The JARUS plenary welcomed guest speeches and updates from Tânia Cardoso Simões – Director European Green Sky at EUROCONTROL, Christine Berg of the EU Commission, Rachel Daeschler – EASA – European Union Aviation Safety Agency Certification Director, Eduardo García – Senior Manager Future Skies at CANSO, Glyn H. – Director General of The International Air Cargo Association TIACA, Frédéric Malaud, ATPL – International Civil Aviation Organization RPAS Section Chief and Yves Morier representing the Flight Safety Foundation.
The JARUS plenary voted on several important personnel decisions throughout the week:
Confirmation voting for Joerg Dittrich to continue his position as Lead of Working Group Safety Risk Management (WG-SRM).
Confirmation voting for Edwin Purnell MSc MRAeS AMCIEHF who takes over the position as Lead of Working Group Operations, Organisation & Personnel (WG-OOP) from Zia Meer who led the working group since 2019.
Election vote for Michael Shedden as Secretary General.
